Macfixit is a great website with lots of troubleshooting tips and user forums that are freely accessible Both software and hardware issues are covered in-depth. There is an annual fee for registered user to access special features. Apple runs a huge website that is free but can be cumbersome to navigate to find the right fix Make sure to use their search system, type in your computer model as well. Note that older Macs are supported under the "legacy" computer category. Our local computer user group is BCUG (Monmouth/Ocean County, New Jersey). They support both Mac and Windows computers. It's a nice company with helpful staff members, I have learned much there. Send e-mail to one of the tech support volunteers and go to a meeting if you live in the area and wish to learn. They also host a "beginner" gathering for Mac users. I like the David Pouge and "Bible" series of Mac computer support books, available at most large booksellers. Anther great website is Ultimatemac.com, they have links to just about everything Mac-related.
